Great mouse and more!

The Logitech M510 Wireless Mouse is a very comfortable and quiet mouse. This is a full-size mouse that fits perfectly in the palm of your hand. The weight of the mouse is "just right". The body of the mouse is symmetrical, making it equally suitable for both left-handed and right-handed users. Mouse movements and the scroll wheel work absolutely smoothly without jerking or jerking. The optical performance of the mouse is very stable on bad surfaces. It works equally well on a mouse pad, on a bare desk, on a pant leg, on the spine of a book, and even in the palm of your hand. It runs perfectly on almost any surface (which many other mouse manufacturers struggle with). These mice use a Logitech "Unifying" mini receiver that alone can support up to six Logitech devices. If you have a Logitech mouse, keyboard, trackball, etc., they can all work from the same receiver (saves the use of USB ports). Please note that the Unifying receiver ONLY works with Logitech products and does NOT support Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. Logitech products can be "paired" with the omni-receiver on Windows and MAC (of course) as well as Linux using a software package called "solaar" (free, open source). The mouse comes pre-paired with the receiver so it's ready to use. If you want to add (up to 5 more devices) you have to pair them yourself. The battery life is amazing. Because I hate leaking batteries, I always use AA lithium cells for everything (including the mouse). My first old Logitech MS-510 mouse, which I bought over three years ago, still runs great on the FIRST batteries I put in (two AA lithium batteries). Since I use it on my desktop, the mouse power button always stays on. It should draw virtually no power when not in use. If you use a mouse with a laptop or need to carry it from computer to computer, a small merging receiver can be stored inside the mouse (in a small USB slot next to the batteries). ) so as not to lose it. What follows is some technical information that you can skip if you don't care. Construction: This mouse is very well designed and can be completely disassembled by loosening the two small screws inside the battery compartment. There are no screws hidden under the Teflon pads of the slider, so that they are not damaged when the mouse is disassembled. After that, each component can be removed by simply sliding or snapping. Why disassemble? See below. Personally, I find the left and right mouse buttons too light (ie, pressed too lightly). The buttons aren't lighter than other mice, I just prefer them a little firmer. To change this I replaced the two small microswitches with Omron D2F-01 series parts with 150gf actuation force. These switches require about double the amount of pressure to press compared to the originals. Replacing is very easy: just unclip the originals and solder the new ones in place. In case you forget how to get them in, the orientation is printed on the circuit board. The side "scroll" buttons already use microswitches with heavier pressure, so I won't change them. The "middle button" (pressing the scroll wheel) and the left/right switches (moving the scroll wheel left or right) are different types of switches that also don't need to be interchanged. When disassembling the mouse, please note that the small plastic slider for the power button can fall out freely when the mouse circuit board is removed. If you don't know this, the slider may fall out silently and never be seen again. don't do this in the first place (or ask an electronics-savvy friend for help). And of course, opening and modifying the mouse will void your warranty! I'll give you one piece of important advice: since the mouse was assembled using RoHS compliant lead-free solder, the microswitch solder joints must be SOLDERED with lead solder first before the connections are vacuumed or soaked clean. This is to "fuse" the high temperature lead-free solder with the more convenient lead solder to avoid burning/destroying the (single-sided) PCB. Much luck! This mouse (hacked or not) gets 5 stars and both thumbs up. It works flawlessly, it's comfortable, the battery life is amazing, and the price is good (sometimes even better when it's on sale). grab one!

Pros
  • The tiny Logitech Unifying receiver stays in your laptop. There's no need to unplug it when you move house, so you don't have to worry about losing it. Compatible wireless mice and keyboards can be easily added to the same wireless receiver. A scroll tilt function is available. DPI (Min/Max): 1000ยฑ
