Review on Aurifil 50wt Linen Cotton Thread - 1,422 Yards by Jennifer Roberts

Look for the THREAD NUMBER

Recently Aurifil changed the names of all its colors but the numbers stayed the same. I sincerely wish that sellers on Revain who offer Aurifil would include the topic number in their title to reduce the confusion that will inevitably result from the name change. For example . . .the title of this thread says it's about "sand". . .and it was. However, this color is now called linen and sand is #2326 (it used to be brown). So if you need Aurifil Sand you need to confirm that you need 2325 (old) and not 2326 (new). Now we come to the assessment. . Before cutting the pieces, how many times have you carefully measured, used your machine's quarter-inch sewing foot, and slowly sewed the pieces together into a precise block? . Then measured the block and found it to be smaller than the instructions say? This used to be the most annoying part of quilting for me. . so much so that I have given my blocks to various troubleshooting instructors. That's when I discovered Aurifil 50 wt thread. I never realized how big a difference one thread can make. But think about it. . .if the thread used is about the same thickness as the threads woven in, the seams go deeper into the fabric and take up less space. . . Make perfect seams every time. Now stretch the thread of the store chain with your fingertips, paying attention to the lumps. . .Absolutely no lumps in the Aurifil thread. By far the best sewing thread. However, because it's so thin it's certainly strong enough to hold seams together when sewing clothes, but pulling the ruffle is more difficult. . So don't throw away polyester/cotton threads as they are still useful for sewing clothes. . .but nothing but Auriphile comes close to my patchwork quilts!
