Review on Justech Adjustable Clip On Motorcycle Wind Deflector - Universal Translucent Windscreen Extension for Racing Bikes by Tony Flugence

Great for the money

Just received this last night and needed to see if it would fit the stock windscreen on my 2018 R1200GS. So I put it together with minimalist instructions that don't say where the two pucks should go. I thought they must be in the vent somewhere, so that's where they went. First impressions are that the screen and hardware are pretty solid. The screen is definitely thicker than my stock windshield, and the hardware is sturdy. The screen is optically clear but has some minor distortions, but that's not a problem as I'll be watching it anyway. It fit the stock windshield with no problem until I started tightening the 4 set screws in the back. Because the stock BMW windshield is curved, the setscrews come in at an angle, preventing the metal spacers under the rubber from seating tightly against the windshield. I tightened them up and tried to push the screws against the metal plates and that was the hardest part of the install. Assembly and installation is easy, unlike what I've described above, and there's plenty of adjustment options both up and down and with the tilt angle. I only needed a few inches of relief at the top of the standard screen to reduce wind noise. In my helmet I think this works great even on low settings covering the notch at the top of the stock screen and about an inch above the top edges. However, it does have at least another two inches of vertical travel up to high settings if needed. I will be testing it this week to see how stable it is at speed and what protection and wind noise reduction it offers. The plan was that it would remain on the windshield when driving on the freeway and be able to detach when driving off-road. I don't know how the extra weight on the stock screen will perform off-road. I'm sure I wouldn't want this to crack my stock screen if it gets too rough. Took it out last night and it was perfect! When I'm low I can still see above it, but it's enough to channel the wind through the helmet and significantly reduce wind noise. Accelerated to 85 km/h without any problems. The top of the stock screen vibrates a bit more than without due to bumps, but that doesn't bother me. I'll take it off before going off-road anyway.

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • Not trendy
