My ears hurt so much! They should be gold plated... and I'm not sure they are! Within an hour of wearing them to the cinema, my ears were itchy and very irritable. They were infected for several days afterwards. Well I loved these earrings so much that I tried clear nail polish after doing a little research and seeing that a lot of people do it to protect their ears from contamination from some of the metals in the earrings. and somehow the pad got stuck and I had to pull the post really hard and it broke. so I will not send them back. i will eat money maybe use it for something else. reuse them. But I don't recommend anyone to buy them... and whoever makes them. This metal was very cheap and I'm really not sure what exactly you coated them with.
