I bought this because I was looking for an inexpensive laptop with an ethernet port that would allow me to troubleshoot network issues around the house. I liked that it has a bezel that can be opened to install an optional 2.5" SATA drive (SSD or HDD). I also have nothing to complain about the build quality, for the price it looks like a well-made laptop with a decent display, comfortable keyboard and touchpad. What completely disappointed me about the Hyundai Thinnote-A is its network capability. WLAN is limited to 802.11N , and had repeated problems connecting to my Eero 6 Pro hotspot. On Linux (Ubuntu 20.04 LTS) it required some driver tweaks for it to connect at all, and even when connected to Wi-Fi it was extreme, unnecessarily slow. In Windows most of the time it just flatly refused to connect. Incredibly, the situation with the wired network was even worse. The Ethernet port is connected to the system via an internal USB connection and is limited to "fast" 100 Mbit/s Ethernet. This by itself wouldn't be too much of a problem, but most of the time the ethernet adapter won't initialize on both Windows and Linux due to a USB error. On the first laptop I received it worked fine at first and then stopped, so I figured I got a bad unit and returned it for a different one. But the second box did the same thing: the ethernet port worked sometimes, but mostly didn't work at other times. Since I bought this laptop specifically for its built-in Ethernet support, unresolvable network issues were a hindrance for me. , and in the end I returned the plug-in too. I ended up buying a slightly cheaper laptop and a separate, very cheap USB 3.0 Gigabit Ethernet adapter, and they both worked flawlessly right out of the box.
