I bought this to help test and format an M.2 drive. It worked great for that. Then yesterday I bought another M.2 to use as a very fast 1TB USB drive. It drops out about every 30 minutes of use. My guess is that there is no contact inside that could act as a heatsink and the M.2 drive could overheat and shut down. Needless to say, it doesn't perform very well overall. If you replace it and add a heatsink, it could work properly
