I really wanted to like this lunch box. I bought this for my very picky 6 year old. The bento boxes allow him to think of lunch as "fun" and actually eat something. I also like that I can pack fresh groceries here or things that he would have to open in a traditional lunch box. Give him more time to eat as he will not be helped at school. It's one thing when it opens up, it's easy. I also liked that an ice pack was included. Like his last one, I had to wrap it separately and was always concerned about how well it would hold up. This ice pack holds up really well and keeps food cold and fresh at lunchtime. The serving size is a little smaller than his last one which I was able to put in a small fork or spoon (like for toddlers) so I didn't have to wrap it separately. This, they don't fit. I wrapped up the crackers and he came home and said they were wet and when I opened them they were actually very wet. I grabbed the fruit which he said juices leaked into other compartments. Putting the pieces together is awkward and they don't always fit properly and get stuck. Taking them apart is even more frustrating as they just completely stick together and I try to get them out with scraps of food or scraps of food. I don't have time to wrestle with the lunch box or clean up the mess inside, as it eventually detaches and falls out, spilling food all over the room. Once you take it apart, it's easy to clean. This bento box is heavy. It's significantly heavier than any others we've had, even without an ice pack. I really don't understand how. Our children have to carry everything back and forth every day, so their bags are already very heavy. That made things a bit more complicated in that regard. We will probably keep this box as a home or day trip box and I will find a new one for everyday use.
