Review on 🏋️ Scosche Rhythm+ Heart Rate Monitor Armband with Dual Band Radio ANT+ and Bluetooth Smart - Optical HR Armband Monitor by Thomas Mertz

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Very disappointing good for fitness techs

It's funny how they advertise that you don't have to wet the contacts before putting the monitor on. The funny thing is that wetting the contacts is a lot less of a chore than working with this device as is. There are two main problems with this device, which I call dropdowns and dropdowns. The dropdowns mean that the heart rate is randomly miscalculated and set to a significantly lower BPM than it should be. Dropouts mean it turns off completely at random times. Drop-downs typically occur when the device is on your hand and your hand is under your heart in some sort of compression exercise. Jumps occur with other types of compression, primarily yoga twists. Another problem is synchronization. The device periodically goes into a state where it blinks blue and red, doesn't sync to anything, and won't even turn off. There are only two options in this situation: discharge the battery or connect it to a charger. I've never let the battery run out and I don't even know how long it lasts because this situation happened so often that I had no choice but to just charge it to get out of the situation. I have tried this HRM in all six different configurations available and multiple times in each. I tightened the band, I loosened the band. I tried on a full charge, I tried on a low charge. This thing is the most annoying piece of technology I've ever encountered to the displeasure of using it. I worked up the courage to give it three stars because it technically tracks heart rate and syncs with devices most of the time. He just doesn't do it consistently enough to earn more. If I had read this review before purchasing I would not have bought it.
