Revainrating 3 out of 5

The quality is ok on the whole, it has some small flaws.

I have been using Apple technology for about 9 years, but I did not expect such an epic fail. The previous model I had was mid 2022 and it suited me with everything. A couple of weeks ago, the management gave us macbooks 2022, now I'm going to return from pick up back 2022. Summing up, I will say that the toy is certainly beautiful, but it is not very suitable for work (software development). Not suitable for toys. The designer would have preferred the iMac 27". For a leader, student, manager, secretary, a Macbook Air would be enough. In short, it is not clear for whom this technique is made.

Pros
  • Traditionally good screen, stylish look, large trackpad, fingerprint unlock, macOS, in general, everything people love about Apple technology
Cons
  • Let's start with the fact that the laptop has only 4 thunderbolt 3 (USB type c) ports and an audio output for jack 2.5. That is, in order to connect an external monitor, insert a USB flash drive or something else, you need to buy adapters and carry them with you all the time. The Touch Bar idea is clearly a failure. It is clear that he looks beautiful, but there is little sense from him. Moreover, if you are used to typing blindly, then you will have to lower your eyes to the keyboard every time to see what the buttons are there now. If you use the Esc key a lot (hello Emacs users), then you will hate this keyboard from day one. Now about the processor / memory. In general, i7 copes quite well, but I did not see any serious performance increase compared to i5, despite the fact that I mainly run multi-threaded applications on the JVM. 16GB of memory is clearly not enough, macOS Mojave began to eat more RAM, which is why swap is constantly used, and everything was great on High Sierra. Sadly, the MagSafe charger is no longer with us. We charge through any free thunderbolt. I haven’t tried it, of course, but most likely if you touch the wire, then the macbook will fly to the floor. Well, now the most fat minus. When you connect an external monitor (1080p, not even 4K), it starts to lag, switches from a smeared video to a discrete one, and as a result, in 2.5-3 hours of operation, the vaunted battery is completely eaten away. Why then this most discrete vidyuhi is needed remains a mystery to me. Of course, you can play around in the settings and it will not lag so much, but the effect still remains.
