This device serves its purpose but is not roadworthy. I knew it wouldn't last forever the first time I connected my XACT box to it. Pressing buttons on the device or driving over bumps in the vehicle puts pressure on the audio system, antenna, and power connectors. The base lasted me 10 months, which is more than I expected. I started getting clipping and garbled reception and connecting to a new base fixed the problem immediately. Since the base is the only way to power the unit or get it to talk to the stereo, I recommend finding an XACT unit with an auto kit rather than a universal kit, or buying an XTR2CK , which looks like it will come with a much better mount.
