Termite Damage Putty

Fixed an issue no one mentioned. We had termite damage on a board in the bedroom so I didn't want to incur the expense of replacing the entire board so I tried digging up a piece of oak and filling it with this wood product. (see photo) I cut a piece of wood for reuse and put it on top of the last layer. First, I use termite spray on the area I couldn't reach. I also used a hot hair dryer as I've read that it can also kill any remaining live termites. I covered this place with a carpet and left it for several months, checking it periodically. Once I was sure there were no termites, I started filling with wood mat. Only later did I realize that I didn't need to paint the first few layers. I also added water to fill in the marks better, but it took a lot longer to dry. Although I bought the red oak color, it didn't even come close to matching my hardwood floor. The addition of a large amount of dye also increased the cure time. With the last of the four deckings I inserted a piece of wood that I cut out for the top layer. (see second photo) Looks good, but not perfect. I was lucky that it stands next to the room door that visitors don't see and I covered it with a rug. After that I painted 2 coats of polyurethane and so far it's holding up well.
