The drawstrings close the bags a little low on those with face pattern, but stretching the bags properly will easily solve this problem. They're a pretty decent size for gift bags - you won't put teddy bears in them, but if you're giving away candy or trinkets at a Christmas party, they'll fit into larger (or more) items - and do so securely (once tied). The plastic is thick enough to support heavier items.
