Yes, this bag requires a bracket if there is no screw in the center of the windshield. I ended up spending another $20 on materials to install it on my Road Star Silverado's windshield. Yes, the lock is a little weak. If you don't twist it into exactly the right position, it will open. And finally, the cleats don't quite match the cleats on the rest of my bike. They are flat, almost flush. The rest of my bike has traditional hemispherical lugs. I complain? Not for the change I spent on this excellent bag. Not to mention the bike manufacturer's name isn't on it, which would triple the price.
