This is one of 2 skimmers I have hanging in the sump of my 65 gallon AIO reef tank. Another skimmer was recommended to me by my reef friend but this one works much better. For the size of the tank and the thickness of the glass, the magnet is more than adequate. It might not work for 5/8 or more, but you still need a bigger skimmer for that. A small modification. The inlet tends to clog due to salt build up and I have had to take it out of the reservoir and flush the line about every month or so. Pretty pain. A few months ago I removed the little white plastic elbow connecting the intake tube to the impeller and it now runs like clockwork with no salt clog issues. I cross my fingers
