One good, one broken before installation

The first ran on my wife's iPad mini 5 with no incident and no blisters. When I tried to remove the protective film from the second one to put it on my granddaughter's iPad Mini 4, the tempered glass broke like a spider web. Not sure what's wrong with the second one but will have to order another one but have decided to go with a different company.
