This fan hung on a shelf above my desk. The clip is strong. The flexible part easily keeps the fan where I want it. The amount of air this little thing releases is amazing for its size. I am very impressed. However, if you are thinking about buying this fan, you need to consider two things: noise level and connector location. My plan was (and is) to plug it in and leave it there. I use it all day every day. You can do it. That works fine. But it does make a distinct tonal hum. Not only the white noise "SSHSHSHSHSHHSHHSHSHSHSHSHHSHHSHHSHHSHHSHSHSHSHHSHHH from each fan" but also a piercing hum. If you are working in a quiet environment, this can be very distracting. Also note the position of the fork in the photo. He comes out facing away from the clamp. So if you plan on using it on a shelf or on the back of a table, make sure you can live with that. I haven't tried using it on battery only. I have no idea about the battery life. But as a fan that stays on, it works really well.
