I can take a large dog on the plane

I had to travel 2 weeks from California to Minneapolis. It was too long a time to force it on my friends and I didn't want to leave my 14 year old Schnauzer cross in the kennel. I've searched products and blogs for years to see what might work to get a 24 pound dude in the cabin and under the seat. This porter was amazing. It was comfortable with everything zipped up, but the fold-out side gave him room to stretch out and sleep during the flight. Multiple openings were great. I was able to open the top to lift it up for a TSA check, then sat in the boarding area with the side open and his head on my lap on the floor against the wall until I was called. There's a wide strap on the back that's perfect for slipping over an old collapsible luggage trolley. That and the semi-rigid, padded mat made it easier and more stable to wheel it over the terminal rather than carrying it on a shoulder strap. Make sure the top zips are closed: my friend had his nose to one side and was trying to escape when we landed. I bought 18x11x11 because it is a United Airlines requirement. I was afraid they wouldn't let me in at the checkout because my toddler couldn't stand up straight in that carrier, but the mesh made it hard to see what was inside. I provided a health certificate from my vet and the agent never examined the dog. Warning - be sure to check your aircraft type and actual dimensions under the seat. I used 1st class upgrade points to ensure I had enough space. I had ordered a narrow Embraer E-Jet from United Express and even with the first one I had to push the sides a bit to fit the trunk under the seat. Thank goodness it was soft. The design of this carrier allowed my little one to move in either direction with minimal trauma. Well designed, well done. I highly recommend it.
