This is a pretty solid fan that reduced the core temperature of my Intel i7 chip (socket 1200) by about 5-10 degrees. The fan has two advantages over most other tube fans. First, it attaches to a mounting bracket that attaches to the motherboard with push pins. This eliminates the need to remove the M-board and install the rear bracket. However, attaching the fan clips to the bracket tabs is a bit tricky. It took about 5 minutes of fumbling before I could find a secure mount. Second, the fan is already coated with thermal compound, which is nice. on your board. I have an Asus Prime board and I ended up setting the device wide (i.e. the fan blows out) which is a bit strange but seems to be the only option. degrees from the base temperature. In hindsight, I'm not sure if this was necessary as I'm not an overclocker, but if you want to give Intel Turbo Boost more room to work, this is a pretty effective solution.
