Using these spikes/legs with RRS TQC-14 mk2 tripod and Acratech GP head. To be honest, these are the legs that should have been my $900 RRS tripod. If you have a travel tripod with standard 3/8" threaded legs, not only is this the cheapest option I could find, it's apparently _almost_ as good quality as the more expensive Gitzo tripods. To keep the spikes very safe so honestly I'm not worried about losing them in the field. It's really nice that they include 4 rubber feet so if I ever lose one I have a spare. small nits: 1. I would like the hole in the studs to be slightly larger so I can properly tighten them to the legs with a standard 1/4" hex wrench. Only real problem if you need to swap spikes for something else in the box IMHO.2. The thread on the spikes was not cut perfectly. It fits/screws on well but wants to hang around a bit due to a small ledge in one of the thread valleys. I've definitely seen far worse threads on tripod tips (some of which were completely out of spec and had to be re-cut), but again no Gitzo quality/etc3. I would like the rubber feet to be larger in diameter than the standard RRS feet. So if I rotate the feet about 90 degrees to get really deep, the rubber feet take the load instead of being held in place by the tripod. That's what I expected when I bought them and on those very rare occasions I probably just use the standard legs or lengthen the legs to remove the locks. I haven't used them long enough to be sure the stainless steel won. do not corrode over time but look good. So yes, these are really high quality spikes/rubber feet at an amazing price. Yes, you can pay 4 times more for better quality at around 1%.
