Works great on my Doilica tripod

I bought this but wasn't sure if it would work with my Dolica tripod. Yes it is. This product looks very high quality and if it fits your tripod and you need a set of spikes I would highly recommend it.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Older model

Too soft to keep a tripod stable

The design of the spike and rubber cap is great, but the rubber material is too soft to keep the tripod stable. The tripod/camera hole will vibrate for a while after being released. It is also worrying that the rubber feet can slowly give way during long exposures or multiple exposures.

Pros
  • Feels good
Cons
  • Annoying

Gitzo Replacement Legs 2540LLVI

I don't normally need spikes as I shoot around town most of the time, but ironically I lost one of the original legs while using my Gitzo in Central Park . The rubber is larger than the OEM and has cleated feet; ), so it will be even better for a park setting.

Pros
  • Pleasant
Cons
  • I have no real complaints about this, everything is fine

Cheap and works well

They fit 3/8-16 threads and the rubber feet snap onto the spikes fairly securely. If I could change something it would be the length of the lugs (maybe 50% more, would be more versatile) and the stiffer rubber feet (their softness prevents a firm grip on the ground compared to the stiffer Gitzo feet). But for the rare photographers who appreciate the benefit, they work well.

Pros
  • Embarrassing presence of

Slightly missing threads

These are very nice legs, I need one for my monopod. The threads are a little rough, which I cleaned up with a wire brush, and the threaded portion is much shorter than I was hoping for, allowing me to only make a full turn before it catches on the base of the monopod leg. Hopefully it stays there after it's tightened and secured to the base with set screws. If not, then I have at least two spare parts! I like non-slip rubber boots that fit snugly and come off well.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled

99.5% perfect match with complete tripods

Using these spikes/legs with RRS TQC-14 mk2 tripod and Acratech GP head. To be honest, these are the legs that should have been my $900 RRS tripod. If you have a travel tripod with standard 3/8" threaded legs, not only is this the cheapest option I could find, it's apparently _almost_ as good quality as the more expensive Gitzo tripods. To keep the spikes very safe so honestly I'm not worried about losing them in the field. It's really nice that they include 4 rubber feet so if I ever lose one…
