The main reason I chose this version over the cheaper Smart 1000 (recommended by The Wirecutter) is its better battery. The brush can work about two weeks without charging. A full charge takes about 12 hours. The cheaper 1000 model can last around a week on a single charge, but it takes around 24 to 27 hours to fully charge. This model takes HALF that time and lasts twice as long. A small price for more performance. This model will pulse every 30 seconds to remind you to move on to the next brushing step. It automatically slows down brushing if you put too much pressure on your teeth and/or gums. It has two other modes which are basically useless unless you have REALLY sensitive gums and/or want a "diversified" brushing schedule. Replacement nozzles for them can be purchased from both first- and third-party suppliers. Third party nozzles are much cheaper. Overall it's a good investment - not only does it make brushing easier, but it also cleans better than a manual toothbrush.
