I don't understand the negative reviews. They made me a little skeptical but I went for them and they are amazing! I bought these for my new outdoor grill and teppanyaki station I built in my backyard. Before I could use them, my wife challenged me to a swimming competition for my kids to be the chef on the big griddle. First day, Saturday = 1000 people served for breakfast and lunch, Day 2, Sunday = 800 people served. I used three main Spade servers for eggs, breakfast burritos, then at lunchtime for hot dogs, street tacos, and chicken and cheese quesadillas. After 2 days in a row and 1800 hungry mouths, no problem, they're back home ready to use on my BBQ and grill. My favorite part of this set is the beveled edges, which I sharpened with a good knife sharpener to give a really nice edge for slicing through thin meats, eggs, hash browns and veggies. Also, the set got very hot in the pan, especially with the flames coming up from the side, and the plastic handles barely melted when touched with hot surfaces, and the handles themselves stayed cool. I noticed that there was a light film on the metal, probably to protect the metal during shipping. Just rinse it out with hot water, it was a breeze, and you'll need to tan the metal before use to remove other contaminants. I see many more years of use and the work will be worth it.
