The quality of the short male to male coaxial cable supplied is very poor and mine was defective/inoperative. After installing as instructed, my cable modem was disabled and only partially reaching 1 out of 4 uplinks and none of the 16 downlinks I have with my ISP. With the coax removed all channels are connected and so far I don't see any problems. On the other hand, I didn't have any surges. Now that I think about it, neither end of the cable screws properly into the guard. The thread is wrong or poorly processed. I suspect SIEMENS has very poor quality control on the part of this supplier/factory and possibly the device itself, which is an issue as this is intended to protect the hardware rather than render it inoperable or allow power surges through. / out of specification.
