I don't know why there are so few carbon fiber rods. I don't see any others (at Revain or elsewhere) that combine these specs: 20-inch folded length, reasonable height, detachable column, twist-locks (which have a lower profile than flip-locks or other fasteners). It checks all of these boxes and is also solid. I really can't believe it. I ordered one to test, but I'll be back. Pro tip: To remove the center speaker, unscrew it further from the base. I didn't notice any progress when I first unscrewed it, but the threads are long so all you have to do is keep turning and it will come loose exposing the aluminum plug on the underside of the 3/8 bushing rod. By the way, this is a great carbon fiber microphone boom/stand.
