This is Kitty's new FAVORITE place! I have a bed in the window of my study. So Kitty jumps onto my desk and then onto her new bed by the window. I think he likes that he can kill two birds with one stone. hanging out with dad *and* taking care of his property (backyard) at the same time! :-D It's big enough for a 12 lb kitten, plenty of room to maneuver and plenty of room to sleep. It has a very nice material on top and padding on the bottom that is "diamond cut" on one side and flat on the other, allowing you to give your kitty a choice of "mattress" styles . :-) It also has a soft crest for about 3/4 of its length. This edge can be opened to remove or placed on either side of the bed (window side or room side). Very pretty. You have the option of attaching it to your windowsill with Velcro (which you "stick" to the windowsill and then Velcro to the bottom of the bed), or you can screw 2 or 3 small screws into your windowsill. .I used screws instead of velcro. I haven't tried velcro (so it might work well), but after seeing the pressure the bed gets when Kitty (only 12lbs) jumps on it, I'm very glad I used screws instead. These are small screws, so they only make a small hole in your windowsill (and are easy to fill with wood putty if you ever make your bed). A. This does NOT come with a heating pad as some of the descriptions say. This is an additional purchase. In general. Kitty and I like it! :-D
