Lets all the light in. No dimming through the camera, which is the most important feature for me. There is a focus, it's good to switch to the manual in the forest. What is important to have. Autofocus works well unless you're taking a picture with dozens of objects between you and the subject. Smooth zoom, excellent quality and price. I would prefer an 18-500 zoom but look at the price. It won't make the bird a quarter bigger, but it works well for flowers, people, cars, landscapes, and most other objects. There are no particular disadvantages.
