Very good travel lens

This is a very good travel lens that stays on my camera most of the time. It produces brighter, sharper images than the lens it replaces, but it doesn't compare to the (three times the price and twice the weight!) Canon lens I rented, which is no surprise. It's very good for the price and weight and well suited to my level of hobby photography. Overall I'm very happy with it and it will continue to be my lens for most of the photos I take.

Pros
  • Fits many
Cons
  • Great price

Great travel lens

Just got back from a trip to Alaska where I took over 1600 pictures. The Tamron was the only lens I used on the trip. I'm impressed with the lens, it's light and small for a wide zoom range. As a layman, I find the lens good. Photos are sharp and perform well. Apertures in the middle range of f8 to f9 give the best sharpness. The autofocus is as fast as any other lens I've had. Of course, the trade-offs required for a large zoom range make this lens far from ideal. But if you want to travel…

Wide range of accessories

That's all I could afford right now. For me, a lens for everyday shots. For example car shows and general photography. I don't like collecting yarn like the pros, but this lens is great for me. Lets all the light in. No dimming through the camera, which is the most important feature for me. There is a focus, it's good to switch to the manual in the forest. What is important to have. Autofocus works well unless you're taking a picture with dozens of objects between you and the subject. Smooth…

but this lens was a good replacement for a pair of lenses

I am under no circumstances allowed to rate photographic equipment, but this lens was a good replacement for a pair of lenses that you don't have to constantly switch between them on vacation or to take photos at random. I have an 18-55 kit lens and a Nikor 70-200 lens, but it always looks like it's wearing the wrong lens. Bought this lens as a stock offer and used it on vacation to Utah's Mighty 5 National Parks, at a family wedding in Las Vegas and at a kids birthday party at home. I use on…

  • Permanent test results
Cons
  • Low maintainability

My favorite lens for photography and still photography

This is the second Tamron AF 18-270mm f/3.5-6.3 VC lens I have owned. However, this is the first time I have the PZD drive function. The first Tamron 18-270 mostly lives on my Canon60d. This is my go-to lens for travel, family reunions, and anything that doesn't require a macro lens or long-range telephoto lens, which is rare. I bought my second Tamron, a PZD powered lens for my Nikon D3100. I use Nikon as a light and/or secondary lens and Tamron is the perfect lens. It came with two kit lenses

Pros
  • Rugged finish
Cons
  • No insurance

Great lens - DO NOT buy from DavisMAX

I bought this lens from DavisMAX (seller on Revain's marketplace). I took my lens and put it on the camera (it worked really well). However, when I opened the lens, I noticed that my box was missing warranty information. I called Revain, who made an inquiry to DavisMAX. DavisMAX told me they gave me great service and automatically enrolled me in the Tamron warranty program (at first I thought they were such nice people). I then requested a copy of the warranty terms, whereupon DavisMAX advised…

Pros
  • Quick Change
Cons
  • Mostly ok but...

I love this lens This is my second 18_270mm lens. I use it on my Canon 7D MarkII camera and I really like it. The reason this is my second lens is because I unfortunately dropped my first one and it shattered the glass inside. I was heartbroken because this lens really is an incredible all-round lens for hiking and travelling. And its beautiful and light weight. My wonderful wife advised me to go online and order another one. I have several Canon lenses and I will say that they are not as sharp

Pros
  • understandable also for the old
Cons
  • compatibility

Advantages and disadvantages. fits accessory kits

The following is my personal experience with this lens (Tamron 18-270mm VC PZD). It does NOT represent everyone else's experience as a whole. Also keep in mind that I haven't had this lens in a long time (well under 24 hours). Therefore, I reserve the right to change my opinion on this lens in the near future.PROS: This lens is very interesting. It has an amazing range (focal length wise)! And I love that I can zoom from wide to tele without changing lenses. Tamron's newer lens (16-300mm) is…

Wonderful All-Purpose Lens

I was recently looking for quality components to add to my photography arsenal and was hoping to find a good all-round lens for my A65. I've tried using an 18-55 set and another 55-200 or 70-300 in the past, but it's often been either inconvenient or impossible to swap out the lenses. So I finally broke down and got a lens that should help me capture almost any subject. Well, the Sony lens does NOT have a stabilizer. Since Sony uses sensor bias, I think Tamron decided we didn't need another…
