Review on 🐠 SeaChem Tidal 55 Gallon (200 Liters) Large Fish Tank Filter - Sicce Brand by Brenda Joiner

Too many design flaws. Get something else

This filter is a good idea that was not well thought of. It is quiet, self-priming and easy to maintain. The problems are multiple: the skimmer inlets suck up most of the water, and the main suction tube sucks up almost nothing. I tested this by placing a sponge on the intake tube and covering both the intake tube and the skimmer slots with the sponge. The main inlet pre-filter is almost never free of debris and the one on the skimmer is always clogged. You can't turn off the skimmer! Seachem Customer Service advises you to turn off the filter when feeding. WHAT? They also suggest that you turn the dial to reduce the flow (it clogs very quickly no matter what media you use or how you set it up) but if I wanted a lower flow filter I would just get a smaller one Buy filters! In addition, since the environment is almost constantly congested, there are a variety of workarounds. I've been trying to do this for 2 months now and I highly recommend buying another filter. I just bought another filter and will be using it in my 10 gallon quarantine tank to keep it going. The filter says it's rated for 55 gallons, I used it on a 20 gallon tank and it was still clogging constantly. I also have a sponge filter that works in this tank. Get something different. I've tried everything to get this to work.
