Some reviews state that the ScanSnap ix500 fits snugly. Either the manufacturer changed the design, or we have different definitions of "tightness". The scanner fits perfectly in the pocket. It is very easy to put in and take out. Inserting at an angle works for me. Enough space to hold with both hands and gently insert. There is a little leeway on the sides. There are also 2 zippered pockets and 3 non-zippered accessory pockets. Well built too. Others also complain that there is not enough space for accessories. But the large zippered mesh pocket offers enough space for a power adapter and a long USB cable. When closed, these items are above the scanner in the pocket, where there is enough vertical space. In fact, there is so much space in this bag that 3 more power adapters and USB cables can easily fit in without interfering with the zipping process (read more about zipping below). The back pocket offers space for USB cables and the like. If you slide the scanner to the front of the bag, there is about 1 inch of free space for items in the back pocket. Ok, the hem around the zipper is uncomfortable at first. This will make the attachment more rigid. The trick is to use your index and middle fingers behind the zipper and push down a little as you pull forward. This is very easy to do once or twice. The zip lip can come in handy when it rains.
