Great little macro lens - not too expensive considering the image quality. Images are very sharp once you learn to focus on very close subjects. Manual focus works well on the A300 with live view. The autofocus is also good, there is enough light. With a larger aperture, a significant portion of a single flower or subject can be out of focus, and it's best to choose the point of focus yourself. Also good for outdoor and portrait photography. At 50mm, it's just as sharp or sharper than the Zeiss 16-80 for medium to long distances. I've taken some great shots of Portland's Japanese garden, most of which are better composed than the zoomed ones because I had to think more about the composition! Received some closeups of chrysanthemums today, one (not very flattering I'm afraid) had aphids which I didn't notice until I looked at the picture on the computer. Aphid details!
