Review on Large New Renaissance Professional Chalk Painting and Wax Brush with Natural Bristles by Jason Carranza

Revainrating 5 out of 5

REQUIRED for drawing with chalk and wax.

I've recently started painting my very worn wooden kitchen cabinets with chalk paint. I came across a couple of reviews that said I should use this round brush style instead of the default brush. I was a little skeptical about the whole concept of chalk drawing and even more skeptical about the need for a 'special' brush. But eiho is a penny a pound (as they say in England) so I ordered 2 of these brushes - one for chalk drawing and one for waxing. I followed the brush prep instructions before use. removing loose stubble, which was quick and easy to do. I used the chalk brush all day for 7 days, rinsing the brush thoroughly with warm water (as directed) each night, then hanging the brush out to dry overnight. During this time, almost not a single bristle fell out of the brush - very impressive. The brush washed out incredibly well, but it took some time to make sure all the paint was washed off. A wax brush that I washed with warm water and dish soap also worked very well. This brush style definitely changed the finish of the paint by making brush strokes less noticeable. I definitely recommend using this with chalk paint and wax. The only advice I would give is that because chalk paint dries quickly if you paint for hours you might end up with a second chalk. Paint brush. This way you can wash one after a few hours of painting and let it dry while you continue painting with the second brush. Otherwise dried chalk paint on the brush can cause minor paint problems if dried pieces of chalk fall onto the freshly painted surface. That's not a problem with the brush, it's just a problem because chalk paint dries quickly. All in all a great brush at a great price. PS I have now also switched to chalk drawing and waxed old furniture. The ending was better than I expected. For anyone interested, I used Renaissance Chalk Furniture & Cabinet Paint Qt - Non-Toxic, Eco-Friendly, Excellent Coverage - Snow (32 oz). The paint is really impressive.
