I believe the real purpose of this product is to disinfect fabrics and maybe on a microscopic level it does that, I don't know. What I do know is that it doesn't eliminate bad smells. I sprayed the sneakers which were quite smelly as well as some blankets that had just come out of the laundry but the smell was still there behind the sneakers and the smell was gone from the blankets within an hour. The aroma is overwhelming, but only for a few minutes, and it's oddly fruity with hints of chemicals. Overall I wasn't impressed and wouldn't buy it again. I think Febreeze Heavy Duty or even their animal scented fabric sprays smell less intense and actually eliminate odors better than this product so I'll come back to those.
