Review on DODGE RAM 1500 2500 3500 Cabin Air Filter Access Door - Genuine OEM Quality by Anthony Cano

Revainrating 5 out of 5

All sorts of problems due to location. It's worth it for cleaner air.

I have a 2010 Ram 1500 and this cover fits. Probably suitable for 09-16 years, but I haven't tried it personally. It would have been nice if Dodge had delivered that from the start. Hopes for cleaner air and a condenser coil prompted this upgrade. Installation videos are available in Genos Garage and on YouTube. Removing the piece of plastic is a difficult task due to the inconvenient and cramped space. The small southpaw will likely have a slight advantage. I only examined the office knife briefly. Also a rotary tool and a hacksaw blade. Neither is easy to control under these circumstances, and I didn't want to scatter plastic shavings and dust around and in the duct. I used a good quality soldering iron. It doesn't cut too fast, is relatively clean, and is more accurate than any other method. I had to shorten the dress a bit, but the cover came open without too much tension. I can sand it down a bit with medium to fine sandpaper. The most interesting thing (HA!) is choosing the right filter size. Speak to a parts store, provide the make, model and year and they will either tell you the filter doesn't exist or offer you a filter that clearly doesn't fit. "GARAGE" works for Revain, and several auto parts stores do the same. They will even tell you that if you are 99.9% sure about a filter, it isn't one. (BOOM!) In short, measure the "opening" of the door section and you'll get the height and width. (7 5/8 x .98). Multiple sources state the depth is 8 1/2 inches. For those who wish; 8.5 x 7.652 x 0.98 inches. OR, 216mm x 194mm x 24mm. Addendum, about five hours later: Filter just received and installed. The measurements above are correct. It should be noted that due to the location of the recess required, the filter cannot be inserted straight. When inserting at an angle, insert the left/rear corner first. Gently pinch the filter housing and push in until the front extends over the edge of the glove box. The filter can then be aligned and inserted straight in. HE WILL PROTECT OVER 1/4-1/2 INCHES. It is in order. Click the trim, replace the glove box door and you're done. By the way, I don't see any indication that there are differences in size, features (or quality) in any cases that are not offered anywhere. Even with the filter installed, expect a slight reduction in airflow through the vents.

Pros
  • Durable finish
Cons
  • Damaged
