I am a fan of Stanley products. This is an American icon and products built to last. To be honest I was very happy to know that they came up with a pour over system this fall. But my expectations were not met when using this product. It's a really well-made stainless steel system, but the coffee it made lacked any shine. It's not the little things in the cup, it's the fact that the water drips for a long time. I played with different grinds to test. The problem is the filter used. This is cheap stainless steel mesh welded in the shape of a cylinder. When I read a guide on how to solve a drain problem, it recommends using a spoon to remove any debris stuck to the walls of the filter. This is not the best solution for good coffee. To be honest, my paper filter percolator basket, which looks almost exactly like this one, empties faster and cooks better. Sorry, it really is built like a tank, but the internal construction is far from perfect.
