My biggest issue with this system is that it is clearly advertised as PoE capable. "This PoE-capable camera system can identify pedestrians in front of the camera and evaluate dynamic objects," says the product description. Unfortunately, this is simply not true. The control unit has no Ethernet or PoE ports, and cameras cannot be connected with an Ethernet cable at all. It needs to be powered by an external power supply (included) and the video is transmitted over Wi-Fi. I really wish they had made it clear from the start. Aside from the lack of PoE capability, the system itself isn't all that bad. It comes with an original 1TB WD Purple drive that should work fine 24/7. The construction work is progressing as expected. The cameras are made almost entirely of plastic and are very small compared to most I've used. They are easy to install. Of course, since it's not PoE, you'll need to find an outlet to plug in the cameras, or drill a hole in the wall to the nearest outlet. With PoE I usually only run CAT6 outside the building directly to the cameras. The power supplies of these cameras are not waterproof in any way, so they must be placed indoors or in a dry place. You only have a few feet of cable to connect it to the camera, which can be a hassle. Another disadvantage of these WLAN camera systems is the range. You can extend PoE systems almost endlessly across buildings or large swaths of land. With such wireless systems you have a very limited range. In ideal conditions, you can achieve a transmission range of 150 feet. In real installations, however, you're likely limited to a range of less than 100 feet. The transmission quality can fluctuate or drop depending on the weather conditions. Therefore, this system can only be used in situations where the cameras are placed very close together. Camera quality is decent, but I wouldn't rate it as impressive as some of the other reviewers here. This is enough to get a good idea of what someone looks like from a distance, but not enough to accurately identify a person's face unless they're within 10 feet or so of the camera. The app works fine. I had no problems installing it on my Android phone. The instructions that come with it are not very detailed. If you're familiar with these types of systems, you should be able to figure things out easily. If not, you'll have to experiment. To be honest, I've seen better systems for less money that don't falsely advertise PoE capability. I would take this time.
