I've always thought of laptops as disposable items. If they start causing trouble for kids in college, just create another one. No waiting for repairs. Laptops have become so unreliable that they don't even last a year. You are done. Three of my kids now have these Surface Pros and they all love them. They aren't assembled with the cheapest components, so they cost more. However, they are designed to work together, dissipate heat well and last a long time. If you are interested in art, choose Apple. If you're into design and spreadsheets, choose Surface Pro. The oldest is 3 years old and still works great. They are light and thin, so they fit well in a backpack. Very happy with this product.
