Review on πŸ”ˆ Dark Walnut Micca OoO Bookshelf Speakers - Pair with 3-Inch Woofers and Silk Tweeter by Victoria Bryant

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The best $100 you will ever spend on speakers!

First of all. IMPRESSIVE! I've been listening to them for a few days now. Unlike the Mb series, they don't seem to need such a long hack. They sounded great right out of the box. I called my wife in the man cave last night to have a listen, she isn't tech savvy but she has great hearing. She was amazed at this, especially when I told her the sub was off. I had to prove to her that there was no subwoofer. The bass is so good and unheard of for a 3 inch speaker (see what I put there?). They play crystal clear, the highs and mids are great, but they also have a very satisfying bass response. the window shakes the bass of the subwoofer, but the real bass. They sound very good without a subwoofer. These things are tiny, about the size of a child's shoe box. OK, I want to ruffle the feathers a bit, BUT I LIKE THESE MORE THAN RB-42! Nicer grids and magnetic mounts. RB is better in this regard. But they are only slightly brighter than the RBs I like. RB is just too warm for me. And they play louder without lowering the woofers, which is a potential problem I've found with the RB. Overall, I think they sound a little better than the R Bs. And hey, they're about $50 less, so it's a win-win. I'm sitting here listening to them now without the subwoofer and they are VERY fun. They would be great on a table or in a small to medium sized room. A large room will likely require larger speakers. When there are several of these, you get an amazing home theater setup! You'll need a subwoofer for the effects, but that goes for any home theater speaker. Just buy them! You are insanely good! Update 12/19/19 I mentioned RB42 above. I finally found out I had a problem with the set I had. I swapped them out with Revain, the replacement kit is much better. Now I'll rate RB42 better than OoO, but not by much. I still love OoO and am very impressed with them. I am trying to get a friend to build a home theater with him so we can see what he has. --------------------- --------------------------- ---------------------- - --- ------------------------ ----------Update 5-5-20 I took them back to my office in the basement/shop and once again I was very impressed. While the bass is very impressive for small speakers, I use them with a 10" Polk subwoofer and these guys sound absolutely amazing! I've tossed between them and the RB-42 and to be honest it's the best speaker when used with a subwoofer. They play a little louder and have more punch than the RB-42. I really love her! Yes, you can buy $100 speakers that produce more bass, but the bass is very respectable and they're extremely balanced across the spectrum. Use them for a 2:1 stereo system. and they sound great. Use them for a surround sound system in a small to medium sized room and nothing else is needed. You are good! Enjoy! ---------------------------------- ------------------------------ ---------------------------------- ------------------------------ -------------------- Update 8-16-21 I just ordered another pair! first pair in my family room as a dedicated music system not hooked up to a home theater. They play together with a subwoofer and the crowd is very nice. Well to be honest I didn't have enough of these in my store so I ordered another pair. I kept comparing them to the RB-42 and to be honest I liked them better. No, they don't have the same bass as the RB, but I still have a subwoofer. The highs are a bit swamped on the RB and I prefer the OoO sound to them. Again they don't play very loud, they just can't handle that kind of air with 3 inch woofers. For small to medium sized rooms paired with a subwoofer they sound fantastic! So sweet and balanced! The best $100 you will spend on new speakers. And they look good and go almost anywhere. Buy them and work with a subwoofer. you do not have to feel sorry.
