Like others, I first tried two different automatic night lights. Even when the ambient light sensor was covered to simulate total darkness, this light bulb blinked continuously like a 1950s neon "Eat at Joe's" sign. Medium to candelabra socket adapter to test this multi-LED bulb in a regular light bulb and it WORKS GREAT - NO BLINKING! The new LED was almost as bright and much whiter than the 7.5W "white" incandescent bulb it replaced. similar to the GE 52194 White Shade incandescent night light and its translucent plastic shade. I tried a new LED light bulb in this one. It worked! no blinking; Do not be fooled. Thinking the translucent plastic shade was blocking too much light, I removed it. There was an error! The 4 LEDs in the bulb were too bright/intense to accidentally look directly at them for even a moment. I had to replace the translucent lampshade. Eventually I came up with the idea of replacing the translucent plastic shade with a clear, ribbed plastic shade borrowed from one of the automatic night lights. The transparent shade lets in significantly more light to illuminate the room. If you are looking for a new NON-AUTO manual night light with a ridged clear shade I would suggest something similar to the GE 51023 4W Incandescent Night Light with a rounded clear shade. These are the ones I will be buying along with other really good 0.36w led bulbs.
