In a recent home computer (re)build we decided to make the boot drive externally accessible via a docking system, but this was not the case possible two computers, so we needed another option. ICY DOCK's TRIO provides this feature, making it easier for you to access your boot drive and other devices. On a Mini-ITX system, a few screws remove the case covers and by unplugging the SATA data/power cables and pressing the two tabs, the boot disk can be pulled out so we can copy and then reinsert it. In fact, we can do this with all three drives if we want. With that in mind, it was obvious that we would need straight (not bent) DATA and POWER cables. This build has the same physical dimensions as a single 3.5" hard drive in our mini-ITX computer case, we were able to hide additional cables under the build. The instructions were clear, i.e. remove the bar from the rails you were going to use (all three came off in our case), attach the drives to the rail by attaching the black plastic pins that go into each of the screw holes on the (A slight click will be heard when the disc is pushed all the way in.) Slide the drive into the frame guide/frame entry). Install the assembly on the computer and finally connect the DATA and POWER cables. We've found the best way to back up your boot drive with a USB duplicator and store it in a separate folder for each PC along with the license information. We like to back up the boot disk at least twice a year or when there are major changes. This item, the ICY DOCK TRIO, saved us a lot of time and money. It's worth it. Hope this helps you and others.
