These are good, inexpensive boots to keep on hand - we don't live in cold climates but we travel extensively with a family that has one. We wanted something light but warm. My child played with it for at least 2 hours in 14 degrees outside and was fine, never complained about cold fingers. The only time our kid complained about cold was when we tried to double the socks and they made the shoes too tight - it turned out we didn't have to worry because the cabin without an extra one layer of socks is warm enough. They've survived a lot of mud and muddy snow and wipe clean easily - the color really helps keep them clean.
