Great product! :) It looks very high quality and seems to be very stable and safe in height. We really wanted a bookshelf for our 5 year old's room but were afraid the 2 year old would knock it over. That's right. Holds quite a few books - love the higher second shelf for larger books - and holds paper airplanes, photos, cars etc that he chooses to mount on top of the plane's two wings. The quality is really great for the price. It's so nice to be able to buy something this fun and at a reasonable price without looking like total junk. This is the PITA to collect. :) Anyway, your kid will love it. I was concerned this might be too childish for a 5.5 year old preparing to start K. It's a lot of fun and I think it should be suitable for a couple of years old, at which point we'll buy it an older bookshelf. The other bookcase we looked at was an expensive item from Pottery Barn. We tried this just in case it worked as it seemed safe from a rollover perspective. What a victory! It's a lot cheaper and a lot more fun for a 5 year old.
