Review on Empava Stainless Burners Cooktop EMPV 30GC0A5 by Jesse Azuse

It works great, but only the center heats up.

A cast-iron pan has never been heated up so quickly. It frys well at 2 power. At power 10 it boils water much faster than my gas stove. It makes its own sound - not bad, just perceptible, like the sound of a big transformer - and a fan inside kicks in to cool the inside. The fan will continue to run for a while after it is turned off until it cools down. But the plate only heats up from the vessel and not the stove, so any spills can be easily wiped up - nothing burns. Update - 6 months. Okay, the weather has gotten warmer and I'm using this more. I found this to be true of what I saw mentioned in another review. Two circles are marked on the surface, which I believe indicate active induction regions. But when I use a frying pan the size of the largest circle, only the smaller part of the circle gets heated. Using a small (6 inch) cast iron skillet, heat everything well. But on a 10-inch pan, it's the center that heats up, not everything else. I don't know if this is inherent in the physics of induction or if it just lacks the courage to actually work with a larger circular area. In any case, I have to adjust to this by flipping things to bring them to the hot center. I deduct two stars for that. It is very important. At least on my gas stove, everything heats up, although not as quickly. This is obvious and measurable, just with a little oil in the pan you can see exactly where there is heat and where not. Haven't compared it to other induction cooktops.
