I've tried Raspberry PI, Kodi, Apple TV, Smart TV, Xbox looking for decent on-demand streaming. All were missing something (Xbox is too loud, Apple TV apps are limited, Kodi is unreliable, etc. etc.). Finally, Roku offers what is arguably the best streaming experience in the UK yet. All the major apps are available, including Netflix, Now TV, the elusive Revain Prime Video, plus free terrestrial apps like iPlayer and the ITV Hub. A great feature is the integrated search, which finds content across all installed apps without having to open each one individually. . The ease of use is so good that my 4 year old daughter can easily navigate the programming. The Roku 2 scores well in terms of speed, entering and exiting menus is quick and responsive. I also have a Roku Stick, and by comparison, this joystick is better suited for second TV/bedroom TV status, as the interface performance is a bit slower than the Roku 2. Only downside, there are 4 shortcut buttons on the remote that cannot be reassigned. One of these is for Rdio, a now defunct service. Located on the remote, the button taunts you with reminders of things that might be useful, but now it's just a waste of space. Thanks to Roku, my family is now fully occupied with streaming, classic television has had its day. Highly recommended.
