Sturdt, but not soft, great yarn though.

The only reason I didn't give this a full five stars is because it really isn't as soft as baby yarn should be . honestly I was a bit disappointed in Bernat for this, but not enough to stop buying their products all together. If you're looking for a sturdy yarn this is your yarn. If you're looking for a soft baby yarn, choose another Bernat yarn, because this is not baby soft.

Pros
  • 2nd one was perfect thank you very much
Cons
  • The yarn may contain knots or inconsistencies, leading to frustration and wasted time

The pictures are deceiving. Yarn is very pretty!

I just want to mention that I've purchased more Bernat Baby Sport yarn #3 baby weight. The yarn is much softer when purchased from Best Buy! Also, the solid colors are beautiful! The Ombre colors are variegated and come in smaller balls, but there is still a LOT of yarn, to work with (which is great). AND, the picture doesn't do it justice! For instance, I bought the "Baby Baby color, and I thought the white would drown out the other colors. But when it arrived, it was white with a beautiful…

Pros
  • I loved it just wish a little darker.
Cons
  • Was very coarse for baby yarn.

Bernat 12.3oz Baby Soft Big Ball Yarn is HUGE

This Bernat Baby Big Ball Sport Yarn is 100% acrylic and it's super soft. The ball measures 1148 meters/ 1256 yards, 12.3 oz and it is HUGE. But it's only a lightweight 3 yarn, so I'm sure all of it will be used when I make a baby blanket for my friend. I love the minty color, it's exactly as described in the pictures. The official color is Baby Green, but i call it mint green. Bernat always makes nice quality yarn. I'd recommend this product and I'd definitely buy it again.

Pros
  • I have used this yarn for years. It works up nice.
Cons
  • The yarn may not be suitable for more intricate knitting or crocheting patterns

Beautiful color - my new review

This is a beautiful color that I did not get tired of looking at while working with it:) super soft and very few knots. That's my review.

Pros
  • Was worried it wouldn’t match the one I already have but it did very happy!
Cons
  • The yarn may not be as soft as other materials, making it unappealing for items like baby blankets or clothing

Bernat Baby Sport is a favorite!

Bernat is my go-to brand, particularly the Baby sport big ball yarn, for quality and value for the many baby blankets I have made for friends, relatives and charities. I can usually source locally at the big box stores the usual pink and blue, but have to "hunt" for more unusual colors such as lavender or blossom. No matter the color, this yarn wears like iron, washes and dries well repeatedly without shrinkage or pulling and my blankets last for years (so I'm told). The only annoying part…

Pros
  • Great
Cons
  • The color may bleed during washing, causing staining and discoloration

Beautiful yarn for my opinion

This yarn is great for baby items. I've been crocheting fine items for my new great grandbabies and for our church prayer shawls.

Pros
  • Baby blanket…a little stiffer than I thought but I’m sure a washing will take care of that..(hoping)..
Cons
  • Being acrylic, it may not have the same luxurious feel as natural fibers

Love the Big Balls good for me

Great product. I have used Bernat yarn for many years but had never tried the big balls. I just completed a baby blanket in the peach color and the end result is beautiful. The balls are huge so I was concerned I might find a lot of knots where the yarn was attached and never found a single one. The best part is I only had two strands to weave in when the project was finished. Machine wash and dry an added plus. I rated the yarn a 4 for softness because it’s not as soft as some yarns I’ve used…

Pros
  • Just what I wanted. Made an Easter bunny. Keeping busy and safe
Cons
  • The large skein size may be overwhelming for some users, leading to waste and unused yarn

Bang for buck - my new review

I ordered ‘baby grey’ to make this small sized granny square sweater, one ball was enough for it. Softer than I expected, no knots, no unwinding - super satisfied! Just wish there were more color options.

Pros
  • Great value.
Cons
  • The yarn may require special care instructions that are difficult to follow or time-consuming

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Difficult to Unwind

It would be so much easier to use this yarn if the yarn pulled from the center as does most yarns. The yarn is soft, light and is what is needed for the project at hand.

Pros
  • Made a baby blanket. Doesn’t split, easy to work with and no ends to weave in!
Cons
  • The baby blue color may not suit everyone's taste

Bernat Baby Sport Yarn

This is a great yarn relative to my current project. Its softness and weight add to the construction of the baby blanket I am making. The size of the skein guarantees that I will have plenty of yarn without having to be concerned about dye lots. It also is great about not splitting.

Pros
  • Very hard to find the starting end
Cons
  • The yarn may shed or break easily, leading to a messy finished product

Great product! on my review.

I have used this yarn for baby blankets before.I couldn't wait to receive the pink one! I received a message that said the order was cancelled.I do not know why. I didn't cancel it. Now I have to place another order and wait for the yarn to be delivered.

Pros
  • Love the yarn.
Cons
  • The yarn may not be suitable for delicate or intricate patterns that require fine details

Love this yarn! best in my review

I have been making baby blankets for about 40 years and once this yarn came on the market I will never go back to any other kind. It’s easy to work with, the quality is consistent, and it makes the softest baby blankets. People I make the blankets for love them because you can throw them in the washer and dryer many times and the yarn retains its softness.

Pros
  • Last long
Cons
  • The yarn may have a tendency to shed or break easily, creating pilling and holes in the finished product

Bernat Baby Yarn: my feedback

I love the softness and the color of this yarn. I do a lot of crocheting and this was a good value for the money The yarn may not be available in a variety of colors or shades.

Pros
  • This yarn is perfect to make baby blankets. It’s super soft.
Cons
  • The yarn may not be available in a variety of colors or shades

Not what I expected

I received this today and I am very disappointed in the texture of the yarn. It is very coarse and scratchy. I have used Bernat yarns before and in fact, I have 3 other skeins of the Bernart Baby Sport yarn that are very nice & soft.perfect for making baby items. I thought this white would make a nice addition to the baby blanket I am currently working on, but this skein is too different from what I am currently using. I will return this white skein and stick with the hombre colored skeins in…

Pros
  • just what i needed
Cons
  • The weight of the yarn may make it difficult to work with for those with hand or wrist issues

Jumbo size for my opinion

Good solid yarn, comes in a jumbo size. Solid white color as shown in the picture. One skein made a baptism gown, bonnet, and booties. with plenty of yarn left for another project!

Pros
  • Nice feel, good for the project and no knots or joins in the entire skein
Cons
  • The color may fade over time with frequent washing

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Not satisfied - my new review

3/4 through making a beautiful blanket there was a large pice of black thread entangled in the yarn. Looks like crap now that I have to cut a piece off

Pros
  • Love the color. Love the size of the skein. Yarn splits sometimes.
Cons
  • The weight of the yarn may make it challenging to hold and manipulate for long periods

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Not very soft good for me

I'm a little disappointed in how this yarn isn't really soft. I have the same Bernat Baby Sport from the local big box store and it's much softer than this skein from Best Buy. Made some baby beanies with them and they came out really stiff feeling. I tried steaming blocking them, hoping it would soften up a bit, but not by much. Made a women's slouchy hat with it and it's really stiff. I did try throwing it in the wash to see how it would hold up - machine wash AND dry in a garment bag and it…

Pros
  • It was the best to work with to make baby blankets.
Cons
  • The yarn may not be as easy to manipulate for users with less experience

It’s baby yarn! on my review.

Came quickly, and works easily into the baby blanket I made. It is a darker color than this picture shows…very pretty with the white. Is the color of the second picture. I made this, along with sweater, hat, booties, and mittens, to a friend. Did the sweater etc., just in the pink.

Pros
  • Just right for what I was knitting
Cons
  • Some users may find that the yarn is too thin, making it challenging for beginners to work with

Revainrating 5 out of 5

It was even the same color

Because I made an error, my afghan was really wide. I ended up using the whole skein and had to buy another. Sometimes when that happens the colors are a tad different but I am happy to say the new skein was almost if not exactly the same. I was able to finish the afghan! Love it!

Pros
  • The cost is outrageous.... taking advantage of the lack of availability.
Cons
  • The acrylic material may not provide the same warmth as other natural fibers

Revainrating 5 out of 5

My "go to " yarn on my review.

This is my favorite yarn to use for baby afghans or for full-sized light weight afghans. The yarn is perfect for patterns that clearly show stitch definition.

Pros
  • Wasn't as soft as I'd like but it's excellent for what I bought it for
Cons
  • The yarn has a slightly rough texture, which may rub against sensitive skin
