So soft and cozy for my opinion

Brand new to crochet, I bought my first 3 skeins at Michaels because this yarn was so squishy and soft without shedding fiber. When I saw the taupe color on sale at ebay it was God’s way to tell me to make a blanket (pattern calls for 6 skeins). The sand color i bought with the taupe color is also yummy, a muted mustard gold color. I have since bought 7 more skeins to crochet a 2nd blanket. I am loving this yarn and the free patterns offered on Bernat’s web site.

Pros
  • I have made lots and lots of these blankets for my grandkids
Cons
  • Limited availability in online stores

Soft, cozy and amazing yarn!

Awesome yarn! Easy to use, makes a beautiful, soft and cozy blanket. Also great for scarves. Yarn recommends a size L hook which is good for afghans. I also used a size N for a scarf as it was all hdc and the N worked a little better. I used a combination of Country Blue and Vintage White for a baby blanket which came out gorgeous. I keep buying Bernat Blanket, it works up a project SO fast! Only drawback is that most of the big balls have at least one cut in them. Understandable from the…

Pros
  • The black was great but the white was to small not worth the money
Cons
  • May be too heavy for some items, such as clothing or accessories

Great product but tough to knit.

I've only been knitting for a year or two, and I love this yarn, but be ready for achy thumbs. I've been using knitting to combat anxiety and depression, so I'm knitting a few (3-5) hours a day. While I love this yarn it has a tightness to it that makes my thumbs achy. I'm using it for a blanket for my hubby, and based on previous blankets I should be done already (it's been 3 weeks) I working through 6 skeins, and as of today 10/5 I've almost finished 3.

Pros
  • The thickness of the yarn ensures that your projects will work up quickly
Cons
  • May not hold its color as well as other yarns over time

Can't get this color at my local yarn store

I love working with Bernat Blanket yarn! For some reason my Joanns doesn't carry this color, and the company website was out of stock. Lucky to find it here. This isn't the first time I've had to get my yarn here because Joann was out of stock. The yarn is the same quality, but costs a little more. Still, saves me a trip to the store and saves me time not having to wait for a color to be back in stock.

Pros
  • You can machine wash and dry Bernat Blanket Yarn without worrying about shrinkage or damage
Cons
  • May not be as durable when exposed to the elements

Fluffy yarn: my feedback

I needed more of this color than I was able to purchase at walmart, and was glad to find it here at an equivalent price. Arrived quickly enough and I was able to finish making my cloak. It's not my favorite yarn, but uber soft and nice to work with, and the cloak is warm and comfortable, if a bit heavy. It's definitely a blanket yarn.I just wish that I didn't have to purchase as many balls as I did for a single project. For a blanket yarn, I would expect larger skeins so I don't have to have as…

Pros
  • Good item
Cons
  • Not recommended for use with certain crafts (such as needlepoint

Quality Control is slacking.

Let me start by saying that I absolutely love this yarn, however, the one skein I purchased (out of 4) was an entirely different shade from the rest that I received and also there were knots throughout the skein where it had been tied together. Now the skein that was deformed was a very nice soft colored light grey shade. The other three looked more tan than grey, so I had to finish my project using the tannish colored yarn which was not cool seeing as the recipient specifically requested light

Pros
  • Bernat Blanket Yarn is made from high-quality, 100% polyester fibers
Cons
  • May not hold its shape well during use or washing

Yarn Perfection! in my review

I used this along with Taupe, Vintage White, Sonoma and Mallard Wood to crochet my brand new nephew a custom blanket. I am absolutely in LOVE with this yarn. I would crochet myself lingerie out of this because it is so wonderful. Seriously. It is sooooo butter soft, dense, warm, works up quickly, is sooo easy to work with and the colors are incredible! I recommend using a size N/9mm crochet hook, anything smaller and it gets a bit too tight for me, but I tend to work tight. Now I'm working on a

Pros
  • You can use this yarn to create a plethora of different projects, from throws to scarves and beyond
Cons
  • Limited ability to block or shape

I do really love this yarn—however, it is very difficult to work with as a beginner. It is hard to see your stitches if you need to look back especially on darker colors. The texture of the yarn was also different from color to color-back had almost no stretch or "plushness” as they lighter colors. With that said, it makes super cozy and plush blankets. More experienced knitters/crocheters will probably work with more ease. Pictured are my first two knitted blankets. I am self-taught and only…

Pros
  • Perfect for my project.
Cons
  • Bulky weight can make intricate projects challenging

Quick and Easy: my feedback

This is wonderful stuff. A friend gifted me 3 skeins of Silver Steel , enough to make an afghan using a hdc, sl st repeated design, using a P/16 hook . I decided I wanted a border on it, so I ordered this hoping to pick up the medium grey of the silver steel, and added a 3 row border using sc, hdc, and dc rows, making the finished size 42"x72". As a FYI, this is NOT the medium grey used in the Silver Steel, it is a shade lighter, but there is not enough difference between those 2 greys…

Pros
  • Made this beautiful blanket for me
Cons
  • Limited stretchability

Wrong color - my new review

So this yarn is great quality and is soft and nice but when I wanted to buy more yarn I just decided to go to Michaels instead because they have the same yarn in the same color (pale grey) but when I got it from the store and brought it home I realized they were 2 different colors even though they both are supposedly pale grey, the one from Michaels looks much more like a pale grey then the one I bought from here which is kind of annoying. Another think I noticed is that the yarn I got at…

Pros
  • The sand color is gender-neutral, making it perfect for baby gifts
Cons
  • May have a different look and feel than expected once worked up

Good value for the money

Overall I was pleased with the color and size of the skein. However, I did notice a couple of small knots as stated from previous reviews but nothing too much that has me concerned. The yarn is soft like it should be. The items were packed well. No smell or noticeable stains. I'm using this item to make a blanket. I am pleased with this product. I plan to buy more from this vendor. Shipment arrived on time as well.

Pros
  • The yarn is easy to work with, both for knitters and crocheters
Cons
  • May fade over time with exposure to sunlight

nice thick yarn on my review.

Like this yarn. thick. easy to work. hadn't crocheted in years and decided to get back into it. got this yarn and made throw. it came out beautiful (of course). decided to make another. found yarn on amazon which is nice as they have better selection of colors than local store. FYI, I used N hook.Update 04/18. Still using this blanket yarn for other projects. Love it. Does well in washer and dryer. I like the multi color yarns the best. Easy and - for me - blankets if all sizes come out great.

Pros
  • Knitting Gauge: 8 sts and 13 rows with a 8 mm (U.S. 11) knitting needle
Cons
  • May be too itchy or scratchy for some people

Not a continuous ball of yarn

I have had this same issue with multiple yarn products from this company, so it is not exclusive to the gray color. There will come a point in the yarn where it is just no longer attached to the rest of the yarn. A huge portion was just a giant waste out of this ball as it looked attached, and all part of one product but just wasn’t, it was a whole separate piece. For the price, that is really taking advantage of customers.

Pros
  • Amazingly soft and looks great crocheted! Fast delivery
Cons
  • Thick texture may not be desirable for some

Not grey.more brown

It wasn't grey at all. It was more brown or tan. Sad, I wanted it to match but nope. It was beautifully saft and luxurious. May require additional care during storage to avoid damage or distortion.

Pros
  • The neutral color makes it easy to match with other yarns and fabrics
Cons
  • May require additional care during storage to avoid damage or distortion

Great yarn, package problems

I’m crocheting a blanket with this yarn and I love the feel of it and how pretty it looks. But on my last order, the yarn wasn’t in one piece. I pulled off all these loose strands/broken pieces of yarn. Total waste and it wasn’t just a small piece gone. Sincerely hoping there’s not any more!

Pros
  • This yarn is available in many color options, so you can find the perfect shade for your project
Cons
  • Can be challenging to find matching dye lots

Beautiful color way

Absolutely beautiful color way! I originally ordered this to be reusable water balloons but loved the color way so much I am making a baby blanket to have in my ready to gift stash!

Pros
  • I love this color
Cons
  • May pill more than other yarns

dark grey Bernats Blanket Yarn Big Ball

I made a blanket for my granddaughter; she picked the color; I added four stripes of faux chinchilla fur. She loved it. So far I have crocheted 7 blankets using this yarn. Everyone loves the softness of the blankets. It comes in many colors. I washed and dried two of them to see how they would turn out. They came out perfectly; same as before they were washed and dried.

Pros
  • Everything was good
Cons
  • Can be challenging to wash and dry

Love Bernat yarns best in my review

After I made my first Afghan for my family using this wonderful, thick, squishy, warm, colorful yarn, everyone wanted one. I'm glad they have so many wonderful colors to combine and they sure are a big hit with everyone I've made gifts for. I always include one of the paper bands that secure the ball/skein and point out the washing instructions, since the material is 100% polyester. The resulting material is wonderfully soft and strong.

Pros
  • It is perfect for crafting holiday gifts for loved ones
Cons
  • May be too thick for some patterns or projects

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Smaller than expected

The skeins were smaller than expected even though I thought I had read the description and reviews carefully to get the right size

Pros
  • Son loved the hat I made. Was nice and warm
Cons
  • May have a chemical odor when first opened

Perfect for eco-friendly water balloons!

I've seen a lot of posts and pins about the reusable eco-friendly water balloons. I thought I'd give it a try. I had to tinker with the free pattern a bit to find a way that suited my tight crochet style, but I eventually worked up a bunch with a K hook and some modifications. I got about 16 balloons out of this big ball. My 12-year-old son thought they might be lame, but pronounced them "epic" after actually trying them. They do wash up well (even with the pine needles that got stuck in them…

Pros
  • Bernat Blanket Yarn is made with anti-pill technology, ensuring that your finished project will look new for years to come
Cons
  • Can be difficult to create fine details
