Review on Sony SEL2470GM E-Mount Camera Lens: FE 24-70mm f/2.8 G Master Full Frame Standard Zoom Lens by Christine Wilkie

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Everything people are saying and more!

Sony has really set a new precedent with its GM glass and it really shows. Somehow they figured out how to achieve all desired optical qualities in the zoom that can be achieved with a very good fix. What. The bokeh is also pleasant and very usable. It's great that I don't have to carry 5 lenses with me everywhere and run the risk of getting dust on the sensor when changing them. It's also nice to be able to concentrate purely on photography without having to worry about the equipment. I've heard people call this lens heavy and that's no lie. This is one of the heaviest I've used. You can feel the quality of its construction in its sheer density and bulk. The grip is well balanced but I don't know how I would have managed without it. This is really the only caveat I've found with this lens so far - you have to have the power to wield it. Autofocus is very fast on my A7rii but insanely fast on the A7riii. The colors are very nice, a bit cold which is my preference and the contrast is great. It's also a very sharp lens, even at f/2.8. Now I also have a 28-105mm G and I would say optically it is a bit better, at least for my taste. If the ability to boost the bokeh and an extra 1.2 levels of light is important to you, I would go for this one. If extra range and a slightly lighter lens are top priorities, go for the 70-105. Or you can always buy both because they are both amazing in their own way. Rschunimagu
