Review on FVW Climbing Carabiners Locking Hammocks by Rickey Ortega

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Ideal for storing a 100lb GSD in a drawer.

This review is for FVW 3 Section Heavy Duty 25KN Auto-Lock Climbing Carabiner (Orange). We have hosted a companion dog (German Shepherd over 100 pounds) who loves cats (and is cat friendly) - OTOH cats had different ideas about this relationship. Unfortunately, we had to lock him up during a doctor's appointment, and his kitty-friendly efforts couldn't be hampered by a silly old locked metal XL cage with three cheap carabiners for backup. We returned home with two cats on the dresser (within reach of the dog if it stood up on its hind legs), a sleeping dog on the floor by the dresser and two broken unclassified/cheap metal carabiners (standard latch and thread). locking mechanism) and a curved front panel of the crate. It's time for an immediate upgrade, this time to get something truly designed to lift and auto-lock. They worked great - they made sure he couldn't 'break' the gate mechanism (placed one on top, one latch on the side and bottom) or somehow open the gate to override his placement (we're guessing that he used his mouth during his previous run). ). They survived with no signs of damage despite his attempts to escape during a later birth. My measurements (as shown in the photos) were as follows: longest length 4.5 inches, widest point on cone side 2.75 inches, narrowest point on cone side 1.5 inches wide. varies from 0.25 to 0.312 on the body of the carabiner ** didn't measure the width of the automatic slide as it would be thicker. I've also included a photo showing this next to a BlackDiamond screwgate carabiner for size comparison. Note that since the spring is stiff, the twist lock is a bit more difficult to operate with one hand - it's possible, but everyone else in the house has to use two hands. It is deliberately designed in such a way that the gate cannot be opened accidentally without an immediate and clear reaction. As such, I wouldn't want to use this in an app if I needed to lock/unlock the carabiner frequently or in a situation where my life would depend on my ability to operate it with just one hand in less than ideal conditions. However, applications such as connecting your Swiss seat to Figure 8, locking the metal door of an XL dog cage, or providing an attachment point for specific gear (hammock rope/backpack attachment point) would be ideal applications for this device.
