It rained quite heavily in NY today and the cable (along with my battery) was in my bag which got a little wet, because my umbrella didn't cover everything. I tried charging my phone with a cable but it kept saying the charger/USB/USB port was wet. So I let it dry for a few hours and tried again. The same message appeared asking you to remove the cable. At first I thought my battery was damaged, but I tried a different cable and it worked, leading me to conclude that the cable itself was damaged. The rest of the contents in this particular bag were barely damp so I'm not sure how a line of this quality could fail after such an event. Either way, it's just a useless cable now.
