I just needed a lamp socket to make a custom 3D printed lamp for a family member. She did a great job. All I had to do was measure the base and punch some holes in the structure to run the power cable through the 3D printed parts. The only drawback is that the cable came out of the socket on the side. I didn't notice and didn't think about it when I ordered. If I had the option, I'd prefer the power cord to come out the bottom of the outlet. However, as I'm not an electrician, the item came pre-wired so I didn't have to worry about connecting the power cord. to the spout. In general it works great.
