Trekking Poles Discount Price. No, these aren't $130 Leki sticks, but for the money they're great value. They are made of carbon, which balances the weight of the other components, creating a beautiful lamppost. Are there lighter coals? Of course there is, but these guys have reduced the cost by using heavier and cheaper hardware components and then offset that significantly by using standard carbon and it works really well - they hit the nail on the head with that . I'd say it's suitable for a person who rides about 10 miles once or twice a week. I usually do 30 on firepaths, canals, and rocky cliffs - and if I could do more than that in a week I'd probably upgrade, but for now I'm totally happy with it. I've ridden about 108 miles with these sticks and passed them with flying colors apart from a small water stain on the cork that all corks have and I really could have avoided that had I used the U-40 cork seal which I use for my rods. . . - I was just being lazy. Anyway I've added a few pics so you can see what you're getting - all the usual baskets and tips. They have a carbide tip and are pretty much standard, so not much to say here. The locks are strong and will hold up to several weeks of daily use as I put many miles underfoot in preparation for a trip to Yellowstone and Grand Teton. They do have some vibration but that doesn't bother me even on 3 hour hikes. This is to be expected as these are not hanging bars. The cork is great and the EVA foam bottom hits it and swells, creating the perfect spot to rest between your thumb and forefinger - just hang on the wrist strap so you stay in control, keep the poles in rhythm and grab a quick grab when You must. I can't tell you how good it is for fatigue. The EVA foam is long enough to climb steep trails. Overall very happy with the performance and even happier with the price - home run guys. Oh, and they fold down to at least 25 inches. However, you can pull the pieces apart without breaking them and put them back together easily. If you omit the sections your longest section to pack is 19 3/4 so it will fit most medical and oversized cases and should work well with most backpacks or 3-day bags.
